Offering Creative Presentations that
Give Hope, Teach and Encourage
Maureen Mould is the founder and executive director of Kaleidoscope Konnections, a non-profit organization dedicated in offering creative and fun presentations that teach and encourage. Maureen received her BS in Special Education with a minor in Psychology from Trenton State University in New Jersey. She went on to earn her MS in Therapeutic Recreation at San Jose State University. She has post-graduate work from Washington State University in Early Childhood. Ms Mould has spent her entire life career in the field of education. She started, and grew, over a period of 14 years, the largest and highest quality, nonprofit early care and education center in her hometown, Yakima, Washington.
Besides clowning, Maureen is also an award winning Toastmaster speaker and entertainer with a message of hope and humor. Living with Type I, insulin-dependant diabetes since the age of 5, has created many challenges including losing most of her sight at the time of her daughter's birth in 1978. It didn't stop her when she and her family biked 3,000 miles across the country on a bicycle built for three in 1984 to raise money for diabetes research. Several years later, after the death of her beloved Guide Dog and more eye surgery, Maureen miraculously regained some sight and then became an insulin pump user.
Maureen has traveled all over the world sharing love and laughter through “compassionate clowning", including trips to Russia and China with Patch Adams. Her creative talents in clowning and presenting have allowed her to bring multi-faceted (kaleidoscope) services to schools, churches, businesses and communities. Maureen is a captivating presenter. “What an inspiration” is said by many.
Maureen's story is featured in Memorial Hospital's Health Matters column in July ... Laugh for the Health of it!

Each year since 1999, “OOCHEE” and friends travel on a clown outreach compassionate clowning trip to bring joy and smiles to those who have suffered loss and trauma in their lives.

In recognition of her contributions to the betterment of children and families locally, nationally, and worldwide, in 2008 Maureen was awarded an honorary membership into the Washington Association of Family and Consumer Science.
